Is it easy to be a single Russian woman?

Very often single Russian women are blamed for selfishness: a woman is selfish if she doesn't want to spend time either in the kitchen cooking meals for her husband or at home doing her work about the house. But doesn't it sound strange? Maybe this statement is nothing but an old-fashioned opinion of keeping home-fire and household as the woman's key role in society.

Why do women become single in Russia? Maybe the reason for such a great number of single Russian women is that modern women are too engaged to be a pure home-keeping mothers and wives, which, of course has its advantages and disadvantages. Single and independent women get more than enough room for self-development. In such a way it becomes possible to make a splendid career and to make oneself noticed and respected by other people. On the other hand, is it as great and easy to be single all the time as it can seem to be? Only few of single women are able to manage doing daily chores and making career at once. And very often such a great deal of work turns out to be exhausting and women get sick and tired of their daily routine and loneliness... So they have nothing to do but to draft into work not to notice loneliness and necessity of any private live with mutual care and love.

And in general, many people regard singles as selfish ones. Certainly, to blame or not to blame depends on the reason people become single: if they are left by others in the unhappiest way or it is others who are left. Some people become single without ever going to be. They just have to live in a different way than they used to live after having parted from their loved ones. Obviously, such ones aren't fond of being single! Meanwhile, others remain single on purpose, because they prefer lonely life to other people's company. Singles-on-purpose are people who escape human society so that they have a possibility to enjoy loneliness. It is not to say that they lead a secluded life because they are antisocial and suspicious of others, aloof and reserved. The thing is they love themselves too much to let others interfere in their balanced and harmonious life or hurt them.
