Psychologists George Ledd and Nansy Peters published the results of investigating the behavior of 389 people, which play into the online games of chance. In their opinion, net players can have serious problems with this "harmful habit". It is considered that in the network those play, who in the usual life try to suppress passion to ardor in itself. Internet draws by their ready accessibility and anonymity.

According to a study a rapid increase in the use of internet can lead to a sharp increase in the number of people, which suffer from different kind of the nervous and emotional disorders, caused by the predilection of online games. Considerable part of that people are singles.

According to a study, as the today most popular reckless enthusiasm are considered lotteries (89%), playing automata (82%), occupy the second place, and further were arranged different card games (71%), rates to the results of sport competitions (57%), bingo (56%) and games on runs (53%). Net games of chance occupy one of last places (8%), and it is regular, i.e., at least once a week, in online they play altogether only 4%. However, in spite of this, net games much more frequently cause habituation, so among those, who play the traditional means of problem with the deliverance from this habit were in 22%, and among the playing on-line - in 74%. In this case the amateurs of the games of chance in the network - this are most frequently singles, with the low level of formation and income.
