What shall I tell my pen pals about?

Finding pen pals on the Internet has recently become as easy as anything. Thousands of people write their letters to others and receive new ones from their foreign friends. It is really exciting and amusing! But it is sometimes very difficult to find the right words for your letter.

Looking for pen pals and the correspondence itself are two separate things. If you are sociable and talkative then you will have no problems talking to others. But there is nothing unusual that at times you have to think a lot to find the right words and topics for conversation. Especially, if you are inclined to make a positive impression on your new friends. Everything you write them about is very important because it characterizes you as a personality. The main thing is that you should fight your fear and make the first step toward your new relations without excessive doubts and hesitations.

It is not advisable for you to make use of widely spread word combinations and questions everyone usually says in conversations. It can characterize you as a common person.

But you should remember that it is better for you not to touch upon some topics which are likely to be unpleasant to people or even hurt them. Try to discuss something positive and neutral. Be active and open.

One more thing is that a good interlocutor must understand others by giving them a possibility to express their opinions and ideas. Let your new pen pals tell you about their lives, friends, recent events etc. It is quite an art to be a good listener!
