A couple of words on keeping flowers

Giving flowers is a nice idea if you want to please somebody or to show your true feelings towards them. If you want to surprise anybody with wonderful flowers you just buy them in a shop usually. The place where you can buy flowers is really important. But not less important is what you should do in order to let the person you presented flowers enjoy them as long as possible. Isn't it wonderful when your flowers remain fresh for a long time and remind her of you?

What should one know to keep flowers fresh as long as possible?

Right after you buy flowers you should place them in room temperature water as soon as possible. Sometimes it is better to remove the packing because it can damage flowers and doesn't prevent them from getting enough air. As soon as flowers stay without water, their cells start regenerative process at the place of a stalk cut. That is why the end of a stalk needs to be cut off by about 2,5 cm before putting a flower into water.

If there is no opportunity to put flowers into water at once (for example, you were presented with flowers not being at home) then it is better to wrap them in something wet. As soon as you are at home try to place them into water. It is advisable to put a bunch of flowers into water with special dissoluble powders for keeping flowers. The powders kill bacteria and feed flowers. In this case you don't need to cut stalks and to change water more often than two times a week. If you do not use such additives, it is necessary to change water and to cut off the ends of stalks every day.

Unfortunately, sometimes people we love have to go somewhere or to live far from us.
