When Salvador Dali was asked why his pictures were so gloomy and frightening remarked once that he wanted to give people chance to realize how splendid and colorful their lives are when they compare them with the atmosphere that reign in his pictures. And this is already the first way of getting rid of annoying and unnecessary thoughts: if you want to fight your problems - fight them.
The only thing you should do is just confess to yourself that there is nothing about your current situation to complain or worry about. Well, a great number of people feel worse than you do, which means that your troubles are not real problems yet and everything can change for the better.
However, this way is more difficult, because it takes great effort on your part to. Usually it is difficult to improve your mood without other people's help.
You need somebody who will be encouraging, supportive and good at fishing you out of your depression no matter just by dragging you out for a walk or anything like that.
But it is possible that we do understand that somewhere people have more troubles; that these troubles are more serious and significant than ours, and your own situation is not so hopeless yet... No matter how selfish it sounds, hungry children in Africa remain just hungry children in Africa and your problems are still the most urgent ones.
On the other had, maybe the thing is that we can turn out to be too lazy, not too weak - it is really more comfortable to give up trying, submit and let depression crept over us. And it is nothing but our laziness that we have to overcome. Surely, being passive is always easier in deed!
Laziness can not be the only reason. Still it is also possible that the difficulties or great nervous shocks you have behind you are so much discouraging that it is hardly possible to start fighting by your own.
And what do we do when there is nobody by our side at the moment when they are needed most? That is why you have nothing to do but to take your current position as it is and hope that the pain goes by and everything will settle as time passes.
